When we were drawing this we were learning to use multiple shapes to make something. We were learning show a message in a drawing. We had to draw a robot that is showing one of the school key values.

Music observation - Adrian Bullimore

My observation is that music is a really fun subject. I really enjoyed it because it was a new challenge and something that I had never done before or anything even similar. I knew that it would be hard and it would take a lot of time but I did not expect it to be as hard and time consuming as it was.

Next I will hopefully do music again in year 10 but I am not sure what I will do.

What music does for me.

I use music to release some stress from school work that I have to. When I am doing homework I will listen to music because it makes it less boring and I have something in the background to listen to. I think that music sometimes makes my mood a lot better when I am angry because it relaxes me.   

Music so far at Greyhigh

In music I have been trying to play the guitar.

We have been focused on different types of practice.
I have tried fixed practice and distributed practice.
Fixed practice is when you are practising for a long period of time on just one part of the song.
Distributed practice is when you practice a short period of time and then have a short brake and reflect on how you can do better when you get back into practising.   

Here is what I have enjoyed

• I like trying to learn an instrument.
• I enjoy having almost everyone at the same level of experience as me.
• I like having the choice of what instrument and what song I want to play.

Here is what I haven't enjoyed

• I don't enjoy how loud it is sometimes because I can't hear myself playing.

Careers: SMART goal

I want to be one of top students in most areas maths by the end of the year and to continue that throughout my time at Grey high. I will be able to do this if I continue to listen to the teacher and use the strategies that we are told to do. It will also help to do some work at home so I can practice some areas of maths that I am not as good with. I will know I have improved when I can do questions faster and I will be able to understand what is happening with all the numbers when I use the strategies. This will help me get a job and it will be useful to be able to work thing out in different places.     

What we have been doing in careers

In this class we have been learning about the career management competencies. I

The career management competency that we have mainly been doing is developing self awareness,
exploring opportunities and deciding and acting. We have been focusing on developing self awareness
and have been linking it to the pb4l expectations which are learning, respect, responsibility and safety.

We have been learning about our skills, values and interest and looking at how those skills, values and
interest are going to help you get a job and what you would want to tell your employer so you will get a
job. We have also been learning about thinking, relating to others, using language, symbols, and texts,
managing self, participating and contributing and how that will help us in the future.

We have been working through a book that has a lot of different things that will help us develop self
awareness. We have also been writing a lot of self reflections to see how well we are doing at those
key competencies.

  

I think a career is a about something that everyone has and it can be paid or unpaid.
It is something that you do all day around the house or anywhere.

Element and compound

We combined magnesium with oxygen by holding a piece of magnesium of a bunsen burner on the blue
flame. After about 15 seconds in the blue flame, the magnesium would burn and have an extremely bright
flame with a white colour. When it was finished it was a white solid and if you touch it, it becomes a
powder. We did this about 6 times and it always did the same thing.
